Aside, PD conducts Annual Eye Camps in the state of Rajasthan. The areas covered PD include the districts of Jalore, Pali, Dungarpur, Jaisalmer, Baadmer, Rani, Sivani and Jodhpur .

What We DO
Project Drishti (PD)
has its focus on rural and remote areas hitherto untouched by the advancements in the field of medical sciences.

Eye Camps are regularly organized for the poor and needy people who reside in rural areas of the country on a regular basis. Our activities also target those living in urban slums and other neglected sections of the society. Inmates at mental hospital, old age homes and government prison have benefited immensely from the activities of the project. The patients are screened at designated centres by the doctors and optometrists from PD and those with eye ailments identified for treatment. As part of the PD campaign, free medicines and spectacles are provided during such eye camps to those in need but cannot afford. Patients identified for surgery are brought to the base eye hospital and treated free of cost. They are also provided with free accommodation and wholesome nutritious meals during their stay for the surgery.

The team from PD carries out cataract surgery with IOL implantation using the latest and most sophisticated equipment and techniques such as SICS (Sutureless).

All the patients who undergo surgery are provided with post operative care and medicines free of cost. After recovery, they are then transported back to their homes to continue their duties with the vision back in place. Aside the regular camps, free OPD are conducted twice weekly – Every Wednesdays at Kanakapura and Saturdays at MEH, Bangalore .

Regular eye screening camps for school children are also conducted to identify childhood eye ailments as well as creating awareness on importance of eye care. As part of the programme, the school teachers are given training to help them identify children who need medical attention. PD has successfully attained its objective of adopting some of the districts to make them Cataract Backlog Free Zones. Gouribidnur, Kolar taluk and Kanakapura in Bangalore Rural District have so far benefited from the mission.
Regular areas are selected from time to time for the same.

In all the activities, the goal has been a simple one. At  PD , we share a belief - to spread out the expertise and experience at our disposal. We offer training in the use of the latest techniques and equipment to help other eye surgeons update or hone their skills. Practical training is offered for ophthalmologists from various parts of the country and abroad, helping propagate safe practices in eye care.

The facilities and equipments available at PD are of world-class standards that help in diagnosis and treatment of both simple and complicated eye diseases.
