Statistics show that there are over 2 million children with blindness in India . But the fact remains that 80% of the blindness is preventable/ curable. Uncorrected refractive errors are a major cause for childhood blindness. This can be prevented by early detection and provision of spectacles. Other conditions in children are childhood cataract, amblyopia, strabismus, childhood glaucoma etc.
