Gagan had an eye problem since childhood.  His vision was minus 20 and his retina was detached.  Gagan’s case was rare because retinal detachment is generally not seen in children, and in his case both the eyes were affected.   Due to extreme short sightedness his retina was very weak.  Under such circumstances an early surgery is needed, or else he could lose his vision completely. Surgery has been done by Dr. Girish Kamath, renowned Vitreo-retina Surgeon.  Apart from fixing the detached retina, the doctors performed a lensectomy, in which they took out his natural lens and inserted another lens. Surgery was challenging and child has regained potential for good vision.
